The Story of Gomer and Hosea portrays God’s jealousy of his people. The knit together lives of Hosea and Gomer were a living reminder to the Israelites of both God’s judgment and his love. They are a reminder to us today of our own unfaithfulness and God’s forgiveness.
The woman in today’s story was faithful to God when she was in a foreign land. We encounter her in II Kings as someone who displayed loyalty and compassion toward her masters by sharing her faith with them–Naaman’s servant girl.
In a society where women generally didn’t have a voice, these women challenged the beliefs and practices of their day. They teach so many lessons about womanhood, faith, assertiveness and God’s love
The woman that we are going to examine in this study was a woman whose life was radically changed. She went from as far away from Jesus as one could get to being an ardent and faithful follower to the very end. Today we are going to examine the life of Mary of Magdala, or Mary the Magdalene.
As we study Abigail, we will learn to appreciate her wisdom, her decisiveness, and her sensitivity. She clearly had great interpersonal skills and an enduring patience. Abigail became the balancing act between folly and evil, the purest model of wisdom.
Athaliah was the most powerful and wicked woman in Judah and the only woman in the Bible to have reigned as a monarch. Though she was an evil ruler, there are some valuable lessons that we can learn from the mistakes that she made inn her life.
We are going to look at the story of the sinful woman as she acknowledges her sin, seeks forgiveness, and worships before Jesus.
Let’s look at a story that is at the very beginning of Jesus’ ministry that demonstrates to us how he demonstrated friendship and used that to call people.
