Bartimaeus, the Blind Beggar – Scott Hoefker – February 22, 2025
Embedded within God’s Word is a rather obscure person, with very little written about, that we can glean some profound spiritual lessons from.

Many Christians believe that they will go to heaven when they die. Sometimes they wonder about loved ones who are not Christians going to hell. What does the Bible teach on these ideas? Does mankind have an immortal soul that can be punished in hell fire or admitted to heavenly bliss?
God’s Word describes our prayers in the form of a sweet incense to His nostrils. David stated, “Let my prayer be to you as incense.” What exactly does that mean? We’ll carefully examine in detail and see how important it is which odor our prayer gives off to our Creator, and ask ourselves, “How do my prayers smell?”
The Israelites were warned “lest they forget” the great covenant they had made with God by Moses in the book of Deuteronomy. Similarly, we are warned in the new covenant not to “forget” the things we have been taught from heaven. We examine old and new testament scriptures to help us always remember our new covenant with God the Father and Jesus Christ.
At various times in our lives we all experience discouragement and even depression. What are some of its
causes? Who in the Bible had either or both? And, what are some things we can do during such times?
