Something happened to one of my friends, a fellow pastor, while using an ATM in Anaheim, California. On the screen appeared a credit card that had the emblems of his bank, but in unusual rainbow colors as to celebrate the month of the “pride” LGBT group (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender). You might ask, what is “Pride Month”? (LGBT Pride Month) is currently celebrated each year in the United States in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall uprising in Greenwich Village. … In 1994, a coalition of education-based organizations in the United States designated October as LGBT History Month. Why does a group of sexually divergent people adopt “the rainbow” as their symbol? Remember the rainbow is a sign from God that he gave after the Noation Flood. It symbolized many things, and represents his mercy to forgive the unrighteous of mankind. He also promised to never flood the earth again!
I find it interesting in watching the world, as it strays further and further away from its Creator, that these perverse things that are happening which are detestable to him, are masked with symbols used to try to make it all seem harmless and beautiful! Who doesn’t like a beautiful rainbow? Many will not say anything about the ever increasing voice of mankind that all of this is normal. They are afraid of the repercussions that could result. What aberrant behavior, using this sign from God-but to represent perverse lifestyles. And it’s a very influential image-an easily recognizable symbol in our society.
Most young people unless taught differently will automatically assume that the rainbow condones these lifestyles. But what does the Bible say about the true symbol of these aberrant lifestyles? God’s Word must supersede any of man’s beliefs… unless they are congruous with His revealed, inspired words. These “chosen lifestyles” are not represented as a beautiful rainbow, but with the black of “the works of darkness!” We read in Isaiah 5:20 what is also happening today: “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” We read in the New Testament: “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth; because what is known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it. For the invisible things of him, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, being understood through what has been made, so that men are without excuse. When they knew God, they glorified him not as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man and birds and animals and reptiles. Wherefore God also he gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor each other their own bodies, since they changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, which is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions; Even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their perversion “(Rom. 1: 18-27). Pretty strong words.
But they are not merely mine, but echo from the very Word of God. Our adversary, Satan, is behind all this, and as Paul says of him: “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. So, it is not surprising if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works “(2 Cor. 11: 14-15). He disguises himself as an angel of light, but it is actually an angel of darkness. One of my favorite candies as child, “Skittles” has been labeled as the Candy of choice by this same group of people we talked about above. “Taste the Rainbow” now has a different meaning to many… nothing is sacred anymore. What can we do? Here are four things I’d like us to consider my friends:
- Are we supporting the Work of God – to those who are taking it out on earth? That message will be progressively stronger as the sins become worse in society. We need to give our full support! Are we praying diligently that God will bless His work, His people, His ministry, and His Ekklesia?
- Be like those of the remaining righteous in Ezekiel 9: 4, 9 who sigh and bemoan all the abominations that are happening, as happened at that time and in the end times. We should not be supporting, encouraging, or merely accepting what we see going on around us. We must be different, and by our example shine clearly in a darkening world. We will stand out, as time marches on. We need not fear as our only true safety comes from being in the hands of God.
- 1 Thess. 5: 2-9 tells us to Stay Close to God. This includes fasting, prayer, and daily studying the Word of God, for they are our only hope to become like those spiritual wise virgins in Matthew 25. Social media, TV, movies, even hobbies all very much can and do distract us from keeping our relationship with God where it needs to be. We must remain balanced, but in tune with God, not man or the god of this world. Don’t fall prey to the changes of this world as they draw near, and they do, will and are…
- Pray, “Thy Kingdom Come!” (Matthew 6:10) It is the only long-term solution. The upcoming fall Festivals revealed in God’s Word point the way! As God’s family, we are in the light and not in darkness… we must keep our focus on what God illuminates through His Word. This earthly kingdom will fail, and will not last…
So, What Communion Has Light with Darkness? It’s pretty clear… we must be as Revelation 18:4 and 2 Corinthians 6:17 reveals… we must come out of its lifestyles and human focus, yet live in this world… a light burning brightly to shine and reflect Him to those we live with.
Some sobering thoughts to consider I know…
…as I close this letter, as I do every Friday evening… as we enter His Sabbath… reflect on this with me, will you?
And again, may God continue to richly bless you. Our prayers and thoughts are with you daily! Please do pray for us as well.
